Mana Moana cultural competency training

Mana Moana is an innovative program from and indigenous design experts Brown Pages which aims to raise the awareness of Māori and Pacific cultures among in office, remote and hard-to-reach, deskless workers.

Māori and Pacific peoples make up a high percentage of the kaimahi (workforce) in New Zealand, and while organisations are increasing their diversity and inclusion efforts, there is still a lot of mahi (work) to be done.

This program introduces employees to a range of Māori and Pacific perspectives to improve their understanding of Indigenous diversity:

  • Basic understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Basic understanding of tikanga Māori and cultural values
  • Basic understanding of Pacific customs and cultural values
  • Introduction to the main Pacific cultures in New Zealand, their languages and relationships with New Zealand is making it easy for organisations across New Zealand to explore the Māori culture and heritage with its Mana Moana program.

You can use the Mana Moana program to:

  • Introduce employees to a range of Māori and Pacific perspectives
  • Improve understanding of indigenous diversity
  • Encourage akoranga (learning) through a broad range of topics ...including Tikanga Māori and cultural values; Whānau, hapū, iwi; history and key events and the natural world (e.g. maramataka, Matariki)

Vibe will help you communicate in the way people learn to achieve cut-through and influence long term change.

  • Traditional and contemporary arts
  • Oral traditions (e.g. stories & languages)
  • People, past and present (e.g. heroes and influencers)
